After a devastating 2025 fire at the Morgan-Manning House, several grants written by the BRI team are helping the museum and historical house rebuild and take on more projects to archive their historical records. Located in our own backyard of Brockport, New York, this Victorian landmark and museum brought the community together with numerous events over the years. On January 14th, 2025, an electrical fire that started in the basement spread throughout the structure, causing extensive damage to the site, including a partially collapsed roof.
For the past year, reconstruction efforts have been underway to rebuild. BRI is proud to continue providing grant-writing services in support of these efforts, with the following awards recently confirmed.
- A $7,774 grant from the New York State Archives' Document Heritage Program to support processing and expanding access to the Morgan Family Papers archives
- A $15,000 grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation to support rebuilding the site
- A $10,000 grant from the Lisk Morris Foundation to support reconstruction
- A $5,000 National Trust Preservation Fund grant to hire a fundraiser to raise funds for reconstruction projects
