Empire State After School Program Grants Available

Grant Opportunity:  The Empire State After School Program (ESAP) seeks the submission of proposals for the establishment and/or expansion of quality after-school programs located in eligible school districts, which offer a broad range of educational, recreational, cultural, and age-appropriate activities in a safe environment. The proposal must integrate what happens in the school day with less formal learning experiences, and must encourage the active participation of children, youth, and families in the design and delivery of program activities. 
Eligibility: Not-for-profit community-based organizations located in an eligible school district (List of Eligible Schools) and/or eligible school districts that meet one of the criteria listed below:

• are located in school districts eligible to participate in the 2017 Empire State After-School Request for Proposals pursuant to chapter 53 of the laws of 2017, or • are located in school districts with high rates of student homelessness (identified as school districts with at least 200 students experiencing homelessness or a school district with at least 10% of its student population experiencing homelessness as identified by the State Education Department), or • are located in school districts in at-risk areas in Nassau county or Suffolk County identified by the Office of Children and Family Services, the Division of Criminal Justice Services, the Division of the State Police, County Executive, or local law enforcement, or located in high-need school districts in Nassau county or Suffolk county.

Grant Amount: $1,600 to $800,000 annually
