Brockport Central School District's Oliver Middle School was one of two schools in NYS to receive a technology grant provided through a partnership with National PTA and Microsoft.  The grant provided support and training so that districts could  host a STEM + Families Tech Night.

Lynn Moulton, BRI Associate and former Brockport Central PTSA President, applied for the grant last year and coordinated the family event when the grant was received.  Kits were provided so that students could create a robotic finger by making a finger sensor and attaching it to a test rig. A full hand demo was also provided to give students a broader understanding of the technology.  The demo included a spreadsheet to graphically and numerically display the movement of the hand.

Student Volunteer Emma Moulton assists students in assembling their finger sensors. The grant included funds for supplies, refreshments and prizes.  The community responded to this event with enthusiasm.  Event participants, both parents and students, enjoyed participating in the activities and learning more about technology.  For more information on the grant, please click here to see the National PTA description and application process.  Interested in learning more about BRI’s grantwriting services?  Click here for more information.
