Grant Opportunity:
The National Endowment For the Arts (NEA) is currently accepting arts education project proposals for the first round of their Art Works Grant Program. The program currently offers three categories of grants dedicated to increasing student access to arts education: Direct Learning Grants, Professional Development Grants, and Collective Impact Grants.
- Direct Learning Grants fund arts education projects that directly engage with students from pre-K to 12 in order to increase knowledge and skills in the arts.
- Professional Development Grants fund projects that equip classroom teachers, arts specialists, teaching artists, school/district administrators, other educators, and community leaders with the knowledge and skills to effectively engage with students and improve instruction.
- Collective Impact Grants fund projects that address neighborhoods, school districts, and/or states in order to increase long-term student participation in the arts through systematic approaches.
Grant Period: Funded projects can begin no earlier than January 1, 2020. Awarded grants cover up to two years.
Eligibility: Non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) U.S. organizations, units of state or local government, federally recognized tribal communities, or local education agencies (i.e. school districts) are eligible to apply. All applicant organizations must have a minimum three-year history of arts programming prior to the application deadline.
Grant Amount: Awards range from $10,000 to $100,000, dependent on project budget. Funds from the ART WORKS may not surpass 50% of the overall project budget.
