Funding Available for Historical Record Accessibility Projects

Grant Opportunity:

The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) is currently seeking preliminary proposals for their Access to Historical Records: Major Initiatives FY 2020 Grant. The Major Initiatives Program supports projects that promote public discovery and use of historical records. 

NHPRC is particularly interested in projects that include collections of  America’s early legal records as well as projects that actively engage the public in the work of the project. 

Eligibility: U.S. nonprofit organizations or institutions, U.S. colleges, universities or other academic institutions, state or local government agencies or federally-acknowledged or state-recognized Native American tribes or groups are eligible to apply. 

Grant Amount: Awards will be between $100,000 and $350,000. Funds from the Access to Historical Record Grant must not exceed 50% of the total project costs.
