Infrastructure​ and Capacity Building Challenge Grants for Humanities Institutions

Grant Opportunity: National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)'s Infrastructure and Capacity Building Challenge Grants Program aims to help institutions secure long-term support for core activities and expand efforts to preserve and create access to humanities materials by funding infrastructure purchases, renovation, or restoration.

Grants from this program may also fund the purchase of equipment and software, as well as restricted, short-term endowments or other investment funds to support long-term humanities projects. 

Proposals should focus on how capital expenditures would benefit the applicant institution and the humanities more broadly long-term. 

Eligibility: Public and nonprofit humanities entities are eligible to apply, including colleges and universities, museums, public libraries, research institutions, historical societies and historic sites, scholarly associations, and state humanities councils. Consortia of entities are also eligible to apply. 

Grant Period: Funded projects will begin May 1, 2020 and will take place over five or six years, depending on the institution. 

Grant Amount: Awards will not exceed $750,000.
