Grant Opportunity: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Great Lakes Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) Program funds experiential K-12 learning experiences throughout the entire Great Lakes watershed. Grants from this program will support existing environmental education programs, foster the growth of new programs, and encourage capacity building and partnerships with local STEM assets and professionals in order to increase student understanding and stewardship of watersheds and related ecosystems.
Proposals should aim to provide experiential learning through Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs), multi‐stage activities that include learning both outdoors and in the classroom.
Eligibility: K-12 public and independent schools and school systems, institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, state or local government agencies, interstate agencies, and Indian tribal governments are eligible to apply. Applicant organizations may be located in any U.S. state, but projects must serve the Great Lakes watershed (Defined as the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin).
Grant Amount: B-WET awards range from $30,000 to $80,000.
