Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind breeds, raises, and trains guide dogs for blind and visually-impaired clients throughout the eastern U.S.

We are excited to announce that Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind is the first organization to win a $20,000 grant award from Bailey and Friends, a new addition to the Golisano Foundation. Freedom Guide Dogs is a nonprofit organization based in Central New York that breeds, raises, trains, and places guide dogs to blind individuals throughout the eastern United States. Specializing in at-home guide dog training, Freedom Guide Dogs is one of only two guide dog training organizations in the US that places dogs with visually impaired clients with additional disabilities.

With a guide dog, increased mobility allows blind clients to participate more easily and actively in their home communities. Freedom's dedication to blind clients with additional disabilities is what made them an excellent candidate for Bailey and Friends. Bailey and Friends was created with the mission of strengthening bonds between people and animals while supporting the therapeutic and occupational potential of human-animal bonds. Funds from this grant will help Freedom Guide Dogs continue to provide guide dogs for blind and visually impaired individuals in the United States.

Freedom Guide Dogs for the Blind has been a BRI client since 2018. Lead Grant Writer Kate Caccavaio oversees a team of associates providing grant prospecting, grant writing, and project management services. We look forward to continuing this successful partnership!
