NSF IUSE: EHR, Engaging & Expanding STEM Education

Grant Opportunity: The Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Education and Human Resources (IUSE: EHR) from NSF promotes transformative and creative approaches to using new knowledge about STEM instruction to improve STEM education for undergraduate students across the country. IUSE: EHR funding supports projects that adapt, improve, and incorporate evidence-based practices into STEM teaching and learning, and that lay the groundwork for institutional improvement in STEM education. Additionally, IUSE: EHR projects can also have the potential to achieve broader social impacts such as improving and expanding the diversity of STEM students and professional development for instructors to ensure adoption of new and effective pedagogical techniques that meet the changing needs of students.

Two program tracks are available: Engaged Student Learning and Institutional and Community Transformation: funding periods and award amounts vary based on these tracks. 

Eligibility: IHEs (i.e. universities, four-year colleges, and/or two-year colleges)

Grant Amount: Award amounts vary based on program track

Engaged Student Learning:     Level 1: up to $300,000 for up to 3 years

                                                 Level 2: between $300,000- $600,000 for up to 3 years

                                                 Level 3: between $600,000- $2M for up to 5 years

Institutional and Community Transformation:      

     Level 1: up to $300,000 for up to three years

     Level 2: between $300,000- $2M for up to 5 years
