Congratulations to the Rensselaer City School District (RCSD) on their recent funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for their Project AWARE (Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education) Program. BRI assisted RCSD in writing the successful $7.5M grant. This five-year grant was one of only 28 awards given across the country and the only one awarded in New York State.
This project expands upon a 2018 Project AWARE grant to the New York State Education Department and the New York State Office of Mental Health to support a pilot program promoting access to age-appropriate mental health services in the New York City, Buffalo, and Rensselaer school districts.
Project AWARE works to develop sustainable infrastructure within schools that support mental health services and programs. By partnering with other state agencies and programs, the grantees will work to implement activities that spread awareness, prevention, and intervention, and promote resilience for youth. Congratulations again to RCSD! We are looking forward to continuing our partnership on this project.
