Teachers of Tomorrow Program Now Accepting Proposals

Grant Opportunity: The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is once again accepting proposals for its Teachers of Tomorrow program. In response to the shortage of teachers within New York State, this program will provide funding to recruit, retain, and certify teachers for schools experiencing a teacher or subject shortage.
 
For 2025-2026, subjects experiencing a shortage are the following: 
  • Career and Technical Education (7-12)
  • Language Arts, (7-12)
  • Library/Media Specialist (Pre-K-12)
  • Mathematics (7-12)
  • Sciences (7-12)
  • Special Education (7-12)
Teachers of Tomorrow grants are administered in two tracks: 
 
Program 1.) Teachers of Tomorrow grants are administered on a competitive basis in the following categories:

Program 2.) Teachers of Tomorrow Science, Mathematics, Bilingual Education, and English as New Language Tuition Reimbursement Program provides funds for districts to attract qualified teachers who have received or will receive a transitional teaching certificate, to teach in a low-performing school that is experiencing a shortage of teachers in science, mathematics, bilingual education, and/or English as a new language

Eligibility: New York State school districts that are identified as experiencing a shortage of teachers and have at least one low-performing school are eligible to apply.
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: The grant period runs from July 1st, 2026, to June 30th, 2030.
