Grant opportunity: As both adults with developmental disabilities (DD) and family caregivers age, the likelihood of caregiving disruption, housing instability, and crisis placement increases, particularly without coordinated future planning. The Council on Developmental Disabilities' (CDD) Supporting Aging Caregivers of Adults with Developmental Disabilities grant program provides funding for the development of an innovative and scalable model that helps those with DD and their aging caregivers plan for long-term residential stability, safety, and well-being when caregivers are no longer able to provide support. Proposals should also explore the development of enhanced support roles to help families navigate complex housing, financial, and legal systems.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include public institutions (such as hospitals or institutions of higher education), nonprofit organizations, disability-service organizations, community-based organizations, tribal organizations, or a consortium of the aforementioned.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Supporting Aging Caregivers of Adults with Developmental Disabilities awards are a maximum of $250,000 per year for a five-year grant period.
