Native American Library Services Basic Grant Program Now Accepting Proposals

Grant Opportunity: The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is accepting proposals for their Native American Library Services Basic Grant Program. This program provides funds to support existing library operations and maintain core services at libraries serving Native American tribes, communities, or groups. 
Proposals should support the IMLS mission of promoting lifelong learning, building the capacity of libraries to improve the well-being of their communities, and increase public access to information and ideas. 

Eligibility: Libraries under the jurisdiction of Indian tribes, nations or communities (recognized by the Secretary of the Interior) are eligible to apply. Libraries must meet the following three criteria: (1) regularly scheduled hours, (2) staff, and (3) materials available for library users.

Grant Amount: Awards will range between $6,000 to $10,000. 

Grant Period: The grant period for awards is two years with projects starting on September 1, 2020. 

Application Deadline: April 1, 2020
