Grant Opportunity: The Spencer Foundation has funded projects and programs supporting high-quality education research, strengthening the impact of educational research, and has made education research accessible to a public audience since 1971.
The foundation is providing COVID-19 Related Research Grants to better understand the impact of social distancing and distance learning during the 2019-2020 school year. The objective of the research is to contribute to the improvement of education during times of crisis. The foundation is interested in projects that are "opportunities to remake and imagine new forms of equitable education." Proposals focusing on all education levels and learning environments are welcome, including early-childhood education, higher education, and school-community programs. Studies unpacking the impact of COVID-19 on marginalized communities (i.e: English language learners, immigrant/ migrant communities, students with disabilities, rural communities) are encouraged. Understanding that social distancing protocols will pose challenges to some modes of enquiry, the foundation encourages creative and new approaches to data collection and analysis.
Eligibility: Non-profit colleges, universities, school districts, and research facilities. Other nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) determination from the IRS are eligible to apply
Grant Amount: up to $50,000
Grant Period: up to 3 years
