Landmarks of American History & Culture: Application Available in December

Grant Opportunity: The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) provides funding for the development and implementation of workshops for K12 educators to strengthen instruction in the Humanities. The Landmarks of American History and Culture program supports a series of one-week workshops for K-12 educators across the nation to enhance and strengthen humanities teaching at the K-12 level. Projects should employ a place-based approach designed to offer educators a unique and compelling opportunity to deepen and expand their knowledge of the diverse histories, cultures, traditions, languages, and perspectives of Americans. Proposals should creatively present on place-based learning strategies, experiential learning methodologies, and other professional development goals. Projects exploring central themes in American history and culture, including government, literature, the arts, architecture, archaeology, and related humanities subjects are also encouraged. Landmarks may include historic homes, museums, presidential libraries, and sites memorializing literary, artistic, or architectural achievements.

Eligibility: IHEs (i.e. universities, four-year colleges, and/or two-year colleges) and non-profit, non-academic organizations (museums, research laboratories, professional research associations)

Grant Amount: $190,000 in funding will be available for faculty development and all necessary teaching resources.

Grant Period: Programs last 2 years.

Important Dates: The full application will be available December 11, 2020. Full proposals are due on February 11, 2021. Projects are expected to begin October 1, 2021.
