Shellie Clark & Michelle Garrett in the BRI office.
2020 was a year that changed how Brockport Research Institute operates. In 2019 we celebrated the opening of our new office space and this year we were thankful for a range of platforms that allowed us to stay open during COVID-19. Despite the many challenges we faced this year, we are grateful to all of our associates for their continuing hard work, dedication, and commitment.
As we look ahead to the New Year, we want to take this time to highlight our accomplishments in 2020:
In 2020 BRI grant writing associates secured over $7.5 million in funding for our clients. We developed successful proposals from numerous agencies and foundations including the National Science Foundation (NSF), US Department of Justice, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- NSF proposals included the following: Scholarships in Science, Technology, Mathematics and Engineering (S-STEM), Robert Noyce Teacher program, Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Education (HBCU-UP) program, Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC), and Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE)
In addition to our ongoing relationship with McAllister & Quinn (M&Q), BRI began collaborating with Congressional Partners and Merchant McIntyre Associates, expanding our reach to new institutions of higher education.
BRI associates provided prospecting and grant writing services for new nonprofit clients: Magic Dragon and Rochester Makerspace. Magic Dragon is an independently run children’s literary and art magazine with a readership throughout New York State. Rochester Makerspace, located in downtown Rochester, brings makers of all kinds and of all ages together to work on digital, mechanical, and art projects.
Our 2020-21 catalog features new courses taught by nine Associates and BRIs Professional Learning division continues to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving educational landscape. In response to school closures and the transition to distance-learning, BRI associates developed new workshops covering topics such as Developing Synchronous and Asynchronous Lessons, Assisting Families with Distance Learning Strategies, and Negotiating Stress With Distance Learning for students, families, and educators. All Professional Learning workshops can be delivered online, in hybrid formats, and in-person.
We wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2021!
