Grant Opportunity: The National Science Foundation's Smart and Connected Communities (S&CC) grant program will fund projects that enhance knowledge regarding the relationship between technology and society and how emergent technologies can be used to create "smart and connected communities"- defined as a community that synergistically integrates intelligent technologies with the natural and built environments.
Proposals are being accepted in the following categories:

S&CC Integrative Research Grant proposals will include integrative research that addresses the technological and social science aspects of smart and connected communities to pilot solutions in partnership with community stakeholders. Grants are distributed in one of two tracks depending on project budget and scope.

S&CC Planning Grant proposals will include planning activities meant to foster research, build community partnerships, and explore community contexts to integrate multiple perspectives.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, nonprofit, nonacademic 501c(3) organizations, for-profit organizations, state and local governments, and other U.S. federal agencies.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: S&CC Integrative Research Grants in the Track 1 category will award between $1,500,001 to $2,500,000 over four years. SCC-IRG grants in the Track 2 category can request a maximum of $1,500,000 to be distributed over a three-year grant period. S&CC Planning Grants will award a maximum of $150,000 with a grant period of one year.
