Supporting Fellowships in Humanities Research

Grant Opportunity: In order to foster intellectual exchange between humanities scholars, The National Endowment for the Humanities's Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions (FPIRI) program provides funding to support fellowship programs in advanced humanities research at independent centers for advanced study.
 
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, state or local governmental agencies, and federally recognized Native American tribal governments. Applicants must have maintained a fellowship program for at least three years prior to applying and be financially independent from institutions of higher education, with no
single college or university contributing more than 49% to the applicant organization’s annual operating budget.
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: The maximum award for the FPIRI Program is $565,000, made up of $385,000 in outright funds plus $180,000 in Federal Matching Funds, over the 42 month grant period.
