Funding to Develop Community Forests in New York State Available

Grant Opportunity: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)'s Community Forest Conservation (CFC) program is a reimbursement grant that provides funding for municipalities to acquire private land for the creation of publicly accessible community forests with the aim of fostering public ownership of forests and participation in forestland management. Proposed projects must be on currently private land located within New York State, at least 10 contiguous acres, and covered with at least 75% woodland.
 
Eligibility: Municipalities within New York State are eligible to apply.
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Awards will range between $50,000 and $300,000 with a grant period of 36 months.
