Small Rural School Achievement Program Once Again Seeking Proposals

Grant Opportunity: The United States Department of Education is once again currently accepting applications for this year's Small, Rural School Achievement (SRSA) grant program. This program will provide funds to local educational agencies (LEAs) located in rural areas to meet the unique needs of their school districts. Eligible activities for SRSA funds include the following:

Eligibility: LEAs, including public charter schools, that serve fewer than 600 students daily or serve a county/counties with a total population density of fewer than 10 persons per square mile are eligible to apply. In addition, applicant LEAs must be designated with a school locale code of 41, 42, or 43 by the United States Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) or otherwise designated as located in a rural area, based on demonstration by the LEA and concurrence of the State educational agency.
 
Grant Amount/ Grant Period: The average dollar amount granted is approximately $60,000.
 
Grant Deadline: The application deadline for SRSA applications is April 15, 2022. However, in order to apply for a grant, applicants must register with System for Award Management (SAM) and receive a DUNS number which may take several weeks.
