Recruiting and Retaining Teachers Through the Teachers of Tomorrow Program

Grant Opportunity: In response to the shortage of teachers within New York State, the New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Teachers of Tomorrow program will provide funding for low-performing schools in New York State to recruit, retain, and certify teachers in bilingual education, career and technical education, English, English to speakers of other languages (ESOL), health education, literacy, mathematics, sciences, social studies, special education, and world languages other than English.
 
Teachers of Tomorrow grants are administered in the following categories:
 
Eligibility: New York State school districts that are identified as experiencing a shortage of teachers and have at least one low-performing school are eligible to apply. For the Master Teacher program, only districts specified by the New York State Department of Education as Receivership or low-performing are eligible to apply. For the Summer Teacher Training Program, only New York City Department of Education Schools are eligible to apply.
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: The grant period runs from June 1, 2022 to June 30, 2026. The initial program period runs from June 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, with subsequent program periods beginning July 1 and ending June 30.
