Grant Opportunity: The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm to School Grant provides funding to implement school programs that increase access to local foods in USDA Food and Nutrition Child Nutrition Programs, including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Food Service Program. This grant aims to educate and connect students with agriculture, food, nutrition, and the environment while increasing opportunities to local farmers and food producers.
Applications are accepted in the following tracks:

Turnkey – Action Planning Grants will fund the development of a Farm to School Action Plan to facilitate launching or scaling farm to school activities.

Turnkey- Agricultural Education Grants will fund the planning, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum that integrates farm to school topics.

Turnkey – Edible Garden Grants will fund the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a food production operation that produces food for school, childcare, and/or summer site activities, such as an on-site garden or livestock.

Implementation Grants will fund farm to school programming that will incorporate local food procurement and agricultural education in order to increase access to local foods.

State Agency Grants will support state agency's farm to school programming that will incorporate local food procurement and agricultural education in order to increase access to local foods.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include units of state, county, city, or town governments, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, independent school districts, and eligible schools or childcare institutions as described here.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Turnkey Grants will award up to $50,000. Implementation grants will range between between $50,000 and $500,000 depending on the scope of the project. State agency grants will range between $50,000 and $500,000. The grant period for Farm to Table Grants will be either 12 months or 24 months, depending on the grant track.
