Supporting Mentorship Programs to Increase Access to Healthcare Careers

Grant Opportunity: The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Prevention (OMH-HDP)'s Mentorship in Medicine and Other Healthcare Professions grant aims to reduce barriers for underrepresented students to pursue health professions. This program will support the expansion of a mentorship program connecting economically disadvantaged and underrepresented minority students across all levels of schooling with mentors from healthcare, public health, and academic institutions.
 
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include not-for-profit medical academic institutions currently managing a mentorship program that supports youth interested in the healthcare field OR nonprofit 501(c)(3) health and service organizations, county health departments, or tribal organizations that is partnering with one such medical academic institution.
 
In addition, applicants must fulfill all the following criteria:
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: A maximum of $50,000 per year will be awarded over the grant period of five years.
