Grant Opportunity: The Employment and Training Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor is now accepting proposals for their Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants program. This program aims to support community colleges in their efforts to meet the skill development needs of high-demand industries through partnerships with workforce entities and employers. Grant projects should aim to implement a strategy that supports one or more career pathways programs to increase the quality of jobs and close equity gaps in the selected industries while incorporating sustainable systems changes.
Eligibility: Eligible lead applicants include public community colleges at which the associate degree is primarily the highest degree awarded or a consortium of community colleges. Applicants must also include one or more partners from a publicly funded workforce development system, a worker-focused entity (such as a union or worker organization), and/or community-based organizations.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Single-applicant awards will range between $1,500,000 and $1,750,000 for the initial four-year grant period while consortium awards will range between $1,500,000 and $5,750,000 for the initial four-year grant period. The grant period will begin March 1st, 2024. After the initial grant period, select awardees receive a period of performance extension from the estimated end date of February 29, 2028, to June 30, 2028 in order to participate in a national impact evaluation.
