Grant Opportunity: The U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences are now accepting proposals for their Small Business Innovation Research program. This grant provides funding for entrepreneurial developers and their research partners to develop the next generation of education technology products for students, teachers, and administrators.
Grants are administered in the following categories:

Phase 1A grants will fund research, development, and evaluation efforts for prototypes of new education technology where no or limited previous development has occurred.

Phase 1B grants will fund research, development, and evaluation efforts for prototypes of a new component to be added to an existing education technology prototype or product.

Direct to Phase II grants will fund research, development, and evaluation efforts of new education technology in order to ready existing researcher-developed evidence-based innovations for use at scale, and to plan for commercialization.
Eligibility: Small businesses owned by U.S. citizens or permanent residents with less than 500 employees are eligible to apply.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Phase 1A and 1B grants will award $250,000 over a nine-month period. Direct to Phase II grants will award $1,000,000 over a two-year grant period.
