Grant Opportunity: The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC)'s Mellon Start-Up Grants for Collaborative Digital Editions in African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American History provides funding for teams of scholar-editors, archivists, digital scholars, data curators, and/or other support and technical staff to work on projects that promote access to America's historical records in African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American History. With the Start-Up Grant Program's goal of addressing longstanding institutional inequalities in mind, projects should provide opportunities that augment the preparation and training of BIPOC in the field of historical documentary editing as well as provide mutually beneficial collaborations with the community.
Eligibility: The following are eligible to apply:
- U.S. nonprofit organizations or institutions
- U.S. colleges, universities or academic institutions, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges
- State or local government agencies
- Federally-acknowledged or state-recognized Native American tribes or groups
Grant Amount/ Grant Period: The maximum amount awarded is $60,000 to be distributed over a two year period beginning no earlier than January 1, 2022.
Grant Deadline:
- April 1, 2021- Optional deadline for draft submissions
- June 9, 2021- Application deadline
