Grant Opportunity: The New York State Education Department is now accepting applications for its Mentor Teacher Internship Program (MTIP) for 2023-2028. This program provides funding for New York State school districts and BOCES to support efforts to train new teachers through the development of a mentorship program connecting experienced, highly qualified teachers (mentors) and beginning teachers in their first or second year of training (interns).
Eligibility: New York State public school districts and BOCES are eligible to apply.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: There are three tiers of funding for MTIP.

Tier 1 grants are available for The New York City Department of Education. Applicants can request up to $1,016,000 (or 50.8% of the total statewide allocation of $2 million) for the first year of funding.

Tier 2 grants are available for City school districts with populations of 100,000 or more. Applicants can request up to $65,000 for the first year of funding.

Tier 3 grants are available for all NYS school districts and BOCES. Applicants can request up to $724,000 for the first year of funding.
The grant period is up to five years between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2028. Funding for subsequent years after the first year is reliant on funding availability.
