Developing Urban and Community Forests

Grant Opportunity: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) Urban & Community Forestry Grants Program provides funding for government and nonprofit entities to implement successful tree inventory,  forest management planning, tree planting, tree maintenance, or educational programming projects in order to develop urban and community forests.
 
Grants are available in the following categories:
 
Eligibility: NYS units of government or municipalities, including counties, cities, towns, villages, public benefit corporations, public authorities, municipal corporations, soil and water conservation districts, colleges and universities, and Indian nations or tribes, as well as NYS nonprofits are eligible to apply.
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: The award amount will range between $10,000 and $75,000 for projects taking place in communities with a population of less than 65,000. For projects taking place in communities with a population greater than 65,000, the award amount will range between $10,000 and $100,000. The grant period is two years.
