We're excited to share that Freedom Guide Dogs, an Upstate New York non-profit dedicated to breeding, raising, training, and placing guide dogs with blind and visually impaired clients along the East Coast, has been awarded $50,000 from The Arthur & Elaine Johnson Foundation. This grant is just one of many awards won by Freedom Guide Dogs this year and caps off a successful 2018 for the organization.

Grant Writing Associate Kate Caccavaio led efforts for the Arthur & Elaine Johnson Foundation award as well as successful proposals for awards from the following organizations:

  • Helen R. Brady Memorial Trust
  • The Golisano Foundation
  • Varnum De Rose Charitable Trust
  • Utica National Bank Foundation

Freedom Guide Dogs also saw a record 40 guide dogs placed in 2018 and project to keep this pace in 2019. Grants such as the Helen R. Brady Memorial Trust, as well as individual support, allows Freedom Guide Dogs to offer their services at no charge for clients as well as bring their unique Hometown Training Program, which offers at-home training to clients with multiple disabilities and/or travel limitations.

Congratulations on the successful year! All of us here at Brockport Research Institute look forward to our continued partnership.
