Grant Opportunity: The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations is now accepting letters of inquiry for their Private Higher Education grants. These grants support private colleges and universities that have a primary academic mission in the liberal arts and sciences.
The foundation has a particular interest in projects that address the following topics:
- Leadership development for faculty, students, and senior leaders;
- Diversity, inclusion, and support for underserved education populations
- Interfaith literacy and leadership for curriculum, student, and faculty research
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability in research, curriculum, and experience
- Student and faculty intellectual inquiry
Awards are offered in two categories: planning grants which support new projects, models or methodologies and comprehensive grants which support projects that align with the foundation's philanthropic mission.
Eligibility: Private institutions of higher education with a focus on liberal arts or sciences are eligible to apply. In addition, applicants must be accredited, four-year, residential institutions and must have a president that has been in place for at least one year prior to applying. Associations or consortia of institutions are also welcome to apply.
Grant Amount: The Arthur Vining Foundation offers planning grants ranging from $25,000 up to $100,000 and comprehensive grants ranging from $250,000 - $300,000.
