Connections Grants to Advance the Humanities in Higher Education

Grant Opportunity: The National Endowment for the Humanities' Humanities Connections Grants seeks to expand the role of the humanities in undergraduate education by funding curricular projects that involve partnerships between faculty across two or more disciplines. 
Humanities Connections Grants are awarded in two categories: 

  • Planning grants support interdisciplinary collaboration of faculty from two or more separate departments or schools (with at least one in the humanities and one outside the humanities) with a goal of creating a new curricular program or initiative. 
  • Implementation grants support interdisciplinary collaboration of faculty from two or more separate departments or schools (with at least one in the humanities and one outside the humanities) with a goal of implementing a sustainable curricular program or initiative.

Eligibility: U.S. 501(c)(3) institutions of higher education are eligible to apply. This includes but is not limited to public and private colleges and universities, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Tribal Colleges and Universities. 

Grant Amount: The maximum award for planning grants is $35,000. The maximum award for implementation grants is $100,000.

Grant Period: Planning grants have a grant period of one year with projects to start in September 2019. Implementation grants have a grant period of up to three years.
