Grant Opportunity: ITEST is an applied research and development (R&D) program providing direct student learning opportunities in PreK-12 students. ITEST proposals should broaden participation of all students, particularly those in underrepresented and underserved groups in STEM fields and related education and workforce domains. ITEST supports projects that engage students in technology-rich experiences that increase awareness and interest of STEM and ICT occupations, motivate students to pursue appropriate education pathways to those occupations, and develop STEM-specific disciplinary content knowledge and practices that promote critical thinking, reasoning, and communication skills needed for entering the STEM and ICT workforce.
Three (3) types of projects are supported through this program:
Exploring Theory and Design Principles (ETD)
Developing and Testing Innovations (DTI)
Scaling, Expanding, and Iterating Innovations (SEI)
ITEST also supports Synthesis and Conference proposals.
Eligibility: Proposals will be accepted from the following organizations: Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) (including two- and four-year institutions), Non-profit/ Non-academic organizations (independent museums, research laboratories, professional associations), and State and Local governments (local school districts, state or local education offices).
Grant Amount:
Exploring Theory and Design Principles: up to $400,000 for up to 3 years
Developing and Testing Innovations: up to $1.5M for up to 4 years
Scaling, Expanding, and Iterating Innovations: up to $3M for up to 5 years
Synthesis: up to $300,000 for up to 2 years
Conference Proposals: up to $100,000 for up to 1 year
