Planning & Implementation Grants: Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections

Grant Opportunity: The Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections (SCHC) program helps cultural repositories plan and implement preservation strategies that pragmatically balance effectiveness, cost, and environmental impact. Proposals should include how collections will contribute to an institution’s financial health, reduce its use of fossil fuels, and benefit its green initiatives. Sustainable preventive conservation measures may also aim to prepare and plan for, absorb, respond to, recover from, and more successfully protect collections in the event of emergencies resulting from natural or human activity.

Eligibility: IHEs (i.e. universities, four-year colleges, and/or two-year colleges) and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations (including community-based organizations), museums, public libraries, research institutions, historical societies and historic sites, scholarly associations, and state humanities councils.

Grant Amount: Planning grant proposals will receive $50,000, Implementation projects will receive $350,000

Grant Period: Planning projects last up to two (2) years, Implementation projects last up to five (5) years

Important Dates: The application will be made available November 13, 2020. Full proposals are due January 14, 2021.
