Grant opportunity: The New York State (NYS) Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) is now accepting proposals for its NYS Building Opportunities in Out-of-School Time (BOOST) grant. BOOST aims to address gaps in opportunities for high-schoolers and to create opportunities for students to engage with the larger community by funding the development or continuation of after-school programs. BOOST, in particular, is a pilot approach to increasing bonds between schools and community programs that offer arts, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, civic engagement, leadership development, and career exploration opportunities.
Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations and public high-need high schools and/or school districts are eligible to apply. High-need schools/ school districts are defined as those having at least 65% of the student population classified as economically disadvantaged.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Awards will range between $100,000 to $250,000 per year over a five-year grant period.
