Templeton Foundation Now Accepting Online Funding Inquiries for Interdisciplinary Research

Grant opportunity: The John Templeton Foundation provides funding for projects and applied research in the following categories:

  • Character Virtue Development
  • Life Sciences
  • Individual Freedom and Free Markets
  • Mathematical and Physical Sciences
  • Public Engagement
  • Religion, Science, and Society. 

Eligibility: The foundation typically funds 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations; however, for-profit and individuals may be eligible if their charitable work aligns with the foundation's priority areas. 

Grant Amount and Grant Period: Grants generally range between $250,000 and $3,000,000. The grant period is typically for up to three years. However, in rare instances, a grant period of up to five years can be requested. 

Important Dates: 

  • August 16, 2025: Online funding inquiry due
  • October 11, 2025: Decisions for online funding inquiry released 
  • January 17, 2025: Full proposal due
