Supporting Food Security in New York State

Grant opportunity: The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is now accepting applications for round three of funding from its New York State Regional School Food Infrastructure Grant Program. This program provides funding for capital projects that encourage the use of New York State farm products in meal preparation for K-12 school children, reduce food insecurity, increase market opportunities for local producers, and strengthen the resiliency of the state's food system.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, local municipalities, school districts, and Boards of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES). 

Grant Amount and Grant Period: The award amount will be $5,000,000 over a five-year grant period beginning March 15th, 2026. 

Important Dates:

  • October 1st, 2025: Informational webinar
  • December 12th, 2025: Deadline for questions
  • December 19th, 2025: Questions and answers posted
  • January 20th, 2026: Application deadline
