Grant opportunity: The U.S. Department of Education's Innovative Approaches to Literacy grant provides funding for local educational agencies and schools to promote programs that develop literacy skills in youth from birth to 12th grade, particularly in low-income communities. Projects must coordinate with school libraries to carry out grant activities.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include local educational agencies (LEA) where at least 20% of students served are from families with income below the federal poverty line, a consortia of such, the Bureau of Indian Education, and nonprofit organizations that serve students within the attendance boundaries of one or more eligible LEAs
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Awards will range between $375,000 and $750,000 over a five-year grant period.
