Grant Opportunity: The New York State Department of Health's New York Providing Local Access to Essential Sustenance (NY PLATES) program aims to enhance the ability of emergency food programs to combat hunger and food insecurity. This competitive grant provides capital funding for design, construction, major renovations, and/or equipment purchases.
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit food banks, emergency food programs, and municipalities providing food relief services in New York State. Applicants must be open to the public and provide services at least three days per week and at least six months per year. Applicants must also have been operating as a food program vetted by the New York State Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) or a HPNAP contractor for a minimum of six (6) months from May 2025 to April 2026.
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Awards for food banks typically range between $150,000 and $ 500,000 while awards for all other types of applicants typically range between $25,000 and $125,000. The grant period is three years.
