NSF EHR Core Research Program: Advancing STEM Instruction & Learning

Grant Opportunity: Proposals to the National Science Foundation's EHR Core Research program (ECR) focus on fundamental research (basic research or use-inspired basic research) that advances knowledge of STEM learning and STEM instruction. The ECR program places emphasis on the development of theory and accumulation of knowledge informing efforts to address challenges in STEM interest, learning, and participation, for all groups and all education levels (including research on evaluative methodologies to support research efforts funded through ECR). Proposals must focus on one or more of the following tracks:

·        Research on STEM Learning & Learning Environments

·        Research on Broadening Participation in STEM Fields

·        Research on STEM Workforce Development

ECR supports research to develop innovative research methods, metrics, and conceptual models to measure existing and emerging phenomena, and to test theories that inform core scientific questions about STEM education and learning.

Eligibility: IHEs (i.e. universities, four-year colleges, and/or two-year colleges) or U.S. nonprofit organizations that have established consortia among these institutions are eligible to apply.

Grant Amount & Grant Periods: Level I programs: up to $500,000 for three (3) years

                                                       Level II programs: up to $1.5M for three (3) years

                                                       Level II programs: up to $2.5M for five (5) years
