Environmental Protection Fund Grants Program for Parks, Preservation and Heritage (EPF)

Grant Opportunity: The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is now accepting applications for their Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) grant program. This program funds the acquisition, planning, development, and improvement of parks, historic properties, and heritage areas in New York State. Grants are administered in the following categories:
  • Parks Program grants fund the acquisition, development or planning of parks and recreational facilities with the goal of land and/or structural conservation or rehabilitation.
  • Historic Preservation Program grants fund the planning or development of projects that aim to acquire, preserve, or restore properties listed on the State or National Register of Historic Places.
  • Heritage Area grants fund projects that acquire, preserve, or restore waters or structures designated as Heritage Areas under section 35.03 of the Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Law.
Eligibility:  New York State municipalities, state agencies, public benefit corporations, public authorities and not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply.
 
Grant Amount/ Grant Period: Awards will fund up to 50% or  75% of the total eligible project cost, depending on whether the project takes place in a high-poverty area. The maximum award is $500,000. However, if the project costs exceeds $4,000,000, up to $750,000 may be requested.
 
Grant Deadline: July 30th, 2021
