Grant Opportunity: The National Science and Technology Council is now accepting proposals for their Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) grant program. By funding projects in that address cybersecurity and privacy, SaTC aims to build understanding on both the technical and the human aspects of secure cyber systems while building the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Grants are administered in several categories:
  • Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace Core Research (CORE) grants will fund projects that research new or clean-slate approaches to cybersecurity that support a safe, privacy-aware cyberspace while providing defenders a distinct advantage.
  • Transitions to Practice (TPP) grants will fund projects that transition later-stage and applied security or privacy research that has shown promise in the lab into a real-life operational environment.
  • Cybersecurity (EDU) grants will fund projects that advance cybersecurity education and workforce development at the K-12, undergraduate, graduate, and professional education levels.

Eligibility: Accredited two and four-year institutions of higher education as well as non-profit, non-academic organizations (such as museums or professional organizations) located in the United States are eligible to apply.

  • Small projects: up to $600,000 with a grant period of up to three years;
  • Medium projects: $600,001 to $1,200,000 with a grant period of up to four years.
EDU proposals can receive up to $400,000 over a grant period of up to three years; however, EDU proposals that show collaboration between a cybersecurity subject matter expert and an education researcher may request up to $500,000 for three years.
