Grants to Jumpstart Water Quality Capital Projects in New York

Grant Opportunity: In order to encourage communities to design water quality projects, the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC)'s Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grant Program will provide funding for municipalities to plan and develop an engineering report that evaluates water quality issues, alternatives, and a capital improvement project.
 
Grants are available in two categories:
  • Category 1 grants provide funding for a report on any wastewater infrastructure-related project, including disinfection.
  • Category 2 grants provide funding for a report on inflow and infiltration projects required by an Order on Consent or SPDES Permit Compliance Schedule.
 
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include the following:
  • Municipalities with a median household income of $75,000 or less located in the Capital District, Southern Tier, North Country, Mohawk Valley, Central NY, Finger Lakes, or Western NY areas of New York State
  • Municipalities with a median household income of $95,000 or less located in the Long Island, New York City, and Mid-Hudson districts of New York State.
 
Grant Amount: Category 1 grants will award $50,000. Category 2 grants will award $100,000.
