Supporting Women in Apprenticeable and Nontraditional Professions

Grant Opportunity: The U.S. Department of Labor’s Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant funds efforts by community-based organizations to provide technical assistance to employers and unions to recruit, mentor, train, and retain women in historically underrepresented apprenticeable and nontraditional occupations.

Proposals should aim to 1.) develop pre-apprenticeship, youth apprenticeship, Registered Apprenticeship, or other nontraditional skills training programs, 2.) provide ongoing orientations or other resources for employers, unions, and workers on creating a successful environment for women in apprenticeable and nontraditional occupations, and 3.) Set up supportive services for women in apprenticeable and nontraditional occupations.  

Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations or consortia of community-based organizations are eligible to apply for this grant.

Grant Amount and Grant Period: Awards will range between $350,000 and $750,000 with a grant period of two years.
