2019 was a year of growth for Brockport Research Institute as we continued to build our services, moved into a new office space, and welcomed new members to the BRI family. As we enter 2020, we'd like to take some time to highlight the accomplishments of our associates in this past year.
In 2019, BRI Grant Writing Associates helped to secure over $15M in funding for our clients. We developed successful proposals for grants from multiple agencies and foundations including the National Science Foundation (NSF), New York State Department of Education (NYSED), Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council (REDC), the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and numerous private foundations. BRI provided grant writing, reviewing, editing and coaching services to our clients including non-profit organizations, businesses, K-12, and higher education and government agencies.
In addition to our grant writing projects, BRI Evaluation Associates evaluated over 30 educational grants including 21st Century Community Learning Centers, NSF Noyce, S-STEM and IUSE grants, US Department of Education My Brother’s Keeper, and SAMHSA Project Aware.
Our Professional Learning division also continued to expand in 2019. BRI presenters facilitated learning across the Western New York and Finger Lakes region in a wide range of topics including Project Based Learning, Creating a College-Going Culture, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Understanding by Design and Social-Emotional Learning. Our 2019-20 catalog features 29 different courses taught by eleven Associates.
We also completed renovations in our new associate office space. This new space was built with sustainability in mind and includes compostable coffee pods and a countertop compost bin in order to decrease landfill waste. To create a space that fully met our associates' needs, our new space also includes multiple workstations with wireless printing, a conference area with a smart screen, a private phone nook, and a comfortable meeting/break area.
As part of our expansion, we welcomed eleven talented new Associates to the BRI family in 2019. These associates come from a variety of backgrounds including humanities, STEM, research, and higher education. We also strengthened our leadership team with the appointment of Dr. Kelley Madden as Director of Evaluations and Shellie Clark as Director of Grants.
We wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2020.
