New Funding Available to Develop Childcare Programs in New York State

Grant Opportunity: The New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)'s Invest in NY Child Care grant programs will soon be accepting applications for the development of newchildcare programs. This program aims to tackle issues related to lack of access in "childcare deserts" throughout the state.
 
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include New York State organizations or businesses that have applied to become a new licensed day care program but not yet received a license, organizations or businesses that have applied to become a NYCDOHMH permitted Article 47 day care center but not yet received a permit, or organizations and businesses that will apply to become a licensed or permitted program. Grant Amount and Grant Period:
Awards for center-based child care are determined on a per licensed child care slot basis as follows: 
  • Grants for group day cares and day care centers located in New York City and Long Island/ Westchester are $9,000 per child for a maximum of $500, 000
  • Grants for day care centers located in the rest of New York State are $7,000 per child for a maximum of $400,000.
  • Grants for school-aged childcare centers located in New York City and Long Island/ Westchester are $3,300 per child for a maximum of $300,000.
  • Grants for school-aged childcare centers located in the rest of New York State are $2,500 per child for a maximum of $200,000.
Awards for home-based care are as follows:
  • Grants for Family Day Cares located in New York City and Long Island/ Westchester are $18,000.
  • Grants for Family Day Cares located in the rest of New York State are $14,000.
  • Grants for Group Family Day Cares located in New York City and Long Island/ Westchester are $30, 000.
  • Group Family Day Cares located in the rest of New York State are $23, 000.
The grant period for Invest in NY Child Care program is two years with projects beginning by June 30, 2022.

    • Informational Session: February 18th, 2022
    • Application Available: April 11th, 2022
    • Applications Due: May 19th, 2022
