The New York State Council on the Arts has recently released their 2023 funding opportunities for arts and cultural organizations in New York State. Grant Opportunity: In order to preserve and enhance the artistic and cultural heritage of New York State, the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) will be providing five funding opportunities for the 2023 fiscal year.

Support for Organizations Grants provide flexible general operating and programming funding for non-profit arts and cultural organizations.

Support for Artists Grants provide funding for commissions for individual artists through a non-profit applicant.

Support for Special Opportunities Grants provide funding for creative performance residencies, subsidized rehearsal spaces for all performing art forms, and folk arts apprenticeships.

Regrowth and Capacity Grants provide flexible funding for organizations to redevelop their ability to serve their audiences in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Support for Partnerships Grants provide targeted funding for non-profit NYSCA partners that otherwise would not be covered by Support for Organization Grants.
In addition, in Fall 2022, NYSCA will open applications for capital project funding.
Eligibility: Non-profit organizations that do business in New York State, Native American tribes in New York State, and units of government in municipalities in New York State are eligible to apply to NYSCA grants. Support for Partnership Grants, however, are by invitation only.

Grant Amount and Grant Period: Award amounts are as follows:

Support for Organizations Grants: $10,000- $49,500

Support for Artists Grants: $10,000

Support for Special Opportunities Grants: Up to $10,000

Regrowth and Capacity Grants: For organizations with an annual budget of $100,000 or more, the maximum award is three $10,000 awards for different activities totaling no more than $30,000. For organizations with an annual budget of less than $100,000, the maximum award is three $5,000 awards for different activities totaling no more than $15,000.

Support for Partnerships Grants: Awards do not exceed 15% of all partnership costs on average.
