National Science Foundation Accepting Proposals for ITEST Program for 2023 Fiscal Year

Grant Opportunity: The National Science Foundation's Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program is an applied research and development program that supports the integration of innovative technology in the learning and teaching of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) in the classroom from pre-K through high school. ITEST aims to foster knowledge and interest in STEM and information and communication technology (ICT) careers through these technology-rich experiences.
 
Grants are awarded in the following categories: 
  • Exploring Theory and Design Principles (ETD) grants support the development of the conceptual framework for innovations that foster student knowledge of, and interest in, STEM and ICT careers. 
  • Developing and Testing Innovations (DTI) grants support the design, pilot-testing or implementing of the innovation. 
  • Scaling, Expanding, and Iterating Innovations (SEI) grants support projects that expand the reach of an existing innovation. 
  • Synthesis grants support syntheses and meta-analyses of effective technology-based models and STEM/ICT workforce development in PreK-12 students which results in products usable by researchers and practitioners.
  • Conference grants support conferences projects aimed at building capacity among researchers and practitioners.
  • The ITEST Resource Center grant funds the creation of a resource center to provide support current and prospective ITEST awardees,  
 
Eligibility: Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, local school districts, and other organizations as specified here. 
 
Grant Amount and Grant Period: Proposals may request the amounts as follows: 
  • Exploring Theory and Design Principles Grants: Maximum of $500,000 for up to three years
  • Developing and Testing Innovations Grants: Maximum of $1,300,000 for up to four years
  • Scaling, Expanding and Iterating Innovation Grants: Maximum of $3,500,000 for up to five years
  • Synthesis Grants: Maximum of $400,000 for up to two years
  • Conference Grants: Maximum of $100,000 for one year
  • ITEST Resource Center: Maximum of $5,000,000 for up to five years
